Our Mission
Challenging Dominant Narratives
BORDERSCAPE is an interdisciplinary platform that brings together scholars, researchers, activists and practitioners working on land issues, migration and multiculturality. We discuss comparative public policies and cultural relations through an anti-colonial lens.
We challenge dominant narratives and create spaces for decolonial dialogue and transformative action in migration studies. Our goal is to develop a space where young researchers, scholars, activists, and policy makers can debate topics on migrations and intercultural relations from an emancipatory and anti-colonial perspective.

Collective Works
Our Knowledge Production section publishes collective works that challenge traditional academic paradigms. We foster collaborative research that centers marginalized voices and challenges colonial frameworks in migration and cultural studies.
From edited volumes to special journal issues, our publications bring together emerging and established scholars to reimagine migration research through decolonial and intersectional approaches.
Working Groups
Our Reseach Communities
Latin American Migration Studies
Focuses on South-South migration flows, regional integration policies, and the impact of colonial legacies on contemporary mobility patterns in Latin America. Monthly meetings in Spanish and Portuguese.
African Diaspora and Mobility
Explores migration histories, transnational belonging, racialization, and mobility across African diasporic communities, with attention to historical and contemporary routes.
Asian Migration and Labor
Examines labor migration, remittances, precarity, recruitment systems, and the relationship between migration governance and labor exploitation across Asian contexts.
European Border Studies
Analyzes border regimes, externalization, securitization, detention, and mobility control in Europe, with attention to law, policy, and lived experiences.
Indigenous Mobility and Sovereignty
Centers Indigenous understandings of territory, movement, sovereignty, and resistance, questioning state-centered models of mobility and belonging.
